From the standpoint of protecting humans and the global environment, the Seiren Group is committed to conducting corporate activities in all its processes and organizations, including research and development, production and sales, in such manners that ensure safety and security of not only our employees, but also our customers.

Green Procurement Guidelines

The cooperation of our business partners is essential for our promotion of global environmental conservation.
The Seiren Group manufactures products that are environmentally friendly through procurement in accordance with green procurement guidelines.

When using new chemicals (auxiliary agents, dyes, etc.) in production, we will obtain the safety data sheets (SDS), specifications and Seiren Restricted Substances Reports to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and customer requirements.

  • 1.When using new dyes or pigments, we will obtain the supplier’s written statement regarding Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.

 

  • 2.When using chemicals that contain substances subject to notice stipulated by the Industrial Safety and Health Act, we will conduct a risk assessment and submit a risk assessment report to the factories using the chemicals.
    • * We will update the list of chemicals containing substances subject to notice once a year (in March) and distribute to factories using the chemicals.

 

  • 3.If a chemical contains restricted substance(s) specified by the Seiren Group, we will determine whether or not it can be used based on the content, purpose and method of use. If usage is possible, we will submit a comment clarifying the reason to the factory using the chemical.
    • * Restricted substances
    • ・ Substances for which inclusion in products is prohibited by treaties, laws, etc., or substances for which concentration limits have been established.
    • ・ Substances for which usage is voluntarily restricted by the Seiren Group in consideration of their impact on safety, health, the environment, etc.
    • *Controlled substances
    • Substances for which usage is voluntarily monitored by the Seiren Group in consideration of their impact on safety, health, the environment, etc.
    • * We will update the list of chemicals containing restricted substance(s) twice a year (in June and December) and distribute to factories using the chemicals.

 

  • 4.If a chemical contains conflict minerals, we will obtain a CMRT (Conflict Minerals Reporting Template) and make a decision regarding its usage after confirming that it is not a source of funding for armed groups or does not give rise to human rights violations.
    • * Conflict minerals (3TG): tantalum, tin, tungsten, gold
    • * We will update the CMRT once a year (suppliers are requested to perform surveys in June, with collection in July) and distribute it to the factories using the chemicals.

 

  • 5.If a chemical contains extended minerals, we will obtain an EMRT (Extended Minerals Reporting Template) and make a decision regarding its usage after confirming that it is not a source of funding for armed groups or does not give rise to human rights violations.
    • * Extended minerals: cobalt, mica
    • * We will update the EMRT once a year (suppliers are requested to perform surveys in June, with collection in July) and distribute it to the factories using the substances.

 

  • 6.If a chemical contains isocyanate, we will determine whether it can be used after confirming that there is no possibility of producing specific aromatic amines.

 

  • 7.If a chemical contains heavy metals, we will determine regarding its usage after confirming that there is no possibility of elution.

We will promptly collect information from suppliers and respond to inquiries regarding the presence of chemical substances not listed in the Seiren Restricted Substances List.

In response to revisions to laws and customer requirements, we regularly update the Seiren Restricted Substances List and collect information on all chemicals that we use.
