What is Sericin?

What is Sericin?

Sericin is a protein that surrounds fibroin, which becomes silk.
An ancient Chinese tradition was to drink a decoction of silkworm cocoons as a treatment for diabetes.
At Seiren, we've used silk since the founding of our company, and we noticed how people who handle silk appear young, healthy, and attractive. Research indicated sericin as a major contributing factor.

The section indicated in blue represents sericin,
which surrounds fibroin depicted in red.

Subsequently, we were the first in the world to develop a unique, patented* manufacturing process to extract and refine highly-pure sericin. We have also actively pursued research into the functions of sericin, making one groundbreaking discovery after another into sericin's potential.
